Human Night Feb 2018

Human Night Feb 2018

I think I’m just trying to create a community/culture that feels free to express itself… A human green house for a little sharing and growth.

‘If it aint broke don’t fix it’ seemed to be the message from the feed back! It is just a space to come and share something. Take part. make a difference. I love the idea that it can be a song, poem, story or waffles!
Opening it up to others but retaining a maximum number size to keep a little intimacy.
The more people you have of course the less everyone gets a chance to share something.
Keeping it here initially sounds like the way forward. (Book early!).
Human Night – the next steps

Human Night – the next steps

Human night, the open practice sessions (13th Dec)

Three notions:

  1. Invite the current group to bring and share something at the next one.
  2. “Who wants to offer something next time?” and if there is anyone, should we all put a pound in and buy them a human t-shirt, if it helps them feel like they’ve been given permission to try?
  3. Shall we practice being humans together first, then when we feel ready, invite others to join the group?

Fuller explanation

It seems to next natural step is to invite the current group to bring and share something at the next one. The Open Practice was initially about sharing the songs we we’re looking to play at a future gig. But I still find myself more drawn to creating a safe space, where what one carries can be freed and experienced by others, free from the judgements of the outside world. The idea of being given permission, by the group, to be yourself, play a part, and discover that by being those things, you can make a positive difference, seems to be at the core of my personal journey.

It’s easy to get ahead of ones self to imagine where one might be in another year. It’s good to have the vision (for me) of everyone in their place and way, fully aligned with themselves, expressing themselves, contributing. But the first step is always the next step, and until it’s taken we can’t know the one after. So ‘Human Night’ seems to need to say “Who wants to offer something next time?” and if there is anyone, should we all put a pound in and buy them a human t-shirt, if it helps them feel like they’ve been given permission?

YES!, A Game. This seemed a positive thing, with ideas being hatched. Maybe as a group we can support each other in pursuing those ideas.

It seemed to lead to these actions:

So, shall we practice being humans together first, then when we feel ready, invite others to join the group?
