I want to see a world where everyone is valued for being themselves. I recon who we are is tied into what we’re enthusiastic about. To discover who we are I recon we need to create a new space. A safe place. A place, a community, where we’re free / encouraged / enabled to play, experiment and express ourselves free of judgement. Would we not only find a joy for ourselves in the moment but also be a vessel for expressing something of that joy to the world? I want to live in this place A world where everyone is valued for being themselves …so we can exist in the world confident and secure that what we do, who we are in the moment, is enough. Enough to play our part, enough that we would have life to the full. Maybe enough for God. So I’m offering my time to people for them to experiment with sound, images, words. I set challenges to allow people to express themselves in their way and value those expressions irrespective of skills, and let those expressions be available to bring some joy to others. I want to help people understand and find expression to who they are… so they reflect the glory of God in this world. To be valued for being ourselves,to know our place in this world and to be used by God. The holy grail of life..?
This is the place where I want to live. A place that hardly exists past the age of 3 years old, a place where we are free to express ourselves, where we bring joy, hope and be the person God designed us to be. Before our expressions, who we are or what we do, are named and judged… where you can just do your thing… our ‘..ing’..
‘I love paint-ing’, so let me be that, and do that, before you judge whether I’m ‘good enough’ to be a painter or not. Let me play. If you’re drawn to it, enthusiastic about it, and it doesn’t have a negative effect on you or the world, do it, even if you can’t name it. let the world name it if it wants. Do it in the context of community and share yourself with others by being you and lets see what happens.
Creative alignment could be about physical, mental, situations, people. We are all creative. I am writing, I don’t care if anyone calls me a writer. I am painting, I am drawing…. I am enthusiastic about doing my thing (enthuse = of God), God is with me in my enthusiasm, doing my th…ing Maybe God flows through the sheer joy of doing. You can’t fail in this place because it is a place before judgement, a place in the moment, a ‘now’, life as a series of ‘nows’.
When we do our thing in the context of community, that’s potentially when what we do opens a door to somehow let God speak to us. We become vessels for God’s communication, God’s word released by us being ourselves.
